Dishwasher maintenance tips

  •  A monthly cleaning run with dishwasher cleaner (once again, lemon juice can be a cheaper and more ecological alternative) removes stains and concentrations of your regular cleaning liquid or powder. End result is a dishwasher that runs with less effort and less chance of breaking down.
  •  Of course, running your dishwasher with a full load will save money, time, energy and water, none of which are in oversupply in the world today.

Stove top, oven and hood checklist

  •  If your oven has a cleaning cycle, use it!
  •  If it doesn’t, putting a pan of ammonia overnight will take care of some of the toughest grime on your oven walls. You can wipe it off easily in the morning. For super-dirty ovens: rinse and repeat.
  •   Prevent: clean up spills on your stove top and the glass of your oven as soon as possible. Once they get baked in, only harsh chemicals and hardcore sponging can remove them.
  • If you have a range or cooker hood and you use your stove frequently, pull out the filter of the cooker hood and clean it once a month to keep it running smoothly.

Microwave maintenance

  •  Once again, lemon juice saves the day. Squirt lemon juice in a tray of water and make the water boil. Afterwards, the dirt is wiped away effortlessly.

Dryer Tips

  • Clean out your lint screen after each load, also washer your screen monthly with warm soap water, dryer sheets can build up a film on the screen not allowing the air to flow through properly.
  • Once a month use your vacuum cleaner’s fine nozzle to suction the lint slot.
  • Once a year unplug the dryer, disconnect the vent tube and vacuum it out.
  • If your dryer doesn’t vent directly outside, call us for a quote to clean out the dryer vent piping.

Washer Tips

  • Be sure you are using the correct soap and the proper amounts.
  • Once a month, run an empty hot water wash to break down any built up residue.
  • Once a month, check your washing machine hoses for bulges or tears, especially at connection points where kinks can form and crack. Manufacturers suggest replacing hoses every three to five years, regardless of wear.
